Kia Australia is recalling 4647 examples of its Seltos small SUV as their engines could fail.
This recall affects SP2-generation Seltos models built from 2019 to 2020 with the 2.0-litre ‘Nu’ naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine.
‘The piston rings fitted to certain vehicles may not meet manufacturing specifications and could cause engine failure and vehicle stalling,” said the company in its recall notice.
“This will result in an unexpected loss of vehicle power.”
If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to contact your local Kia dealer to book in an appointment to have the engine inspected and replaced if damaged, free of charge.
During the inspection, an Engine Control Unit (ECU) update will be applied to the car as an “additional data monitoring tool to detect early signs of engine failure”.
If you have any further questions you can call Kia Customer Service on 131 542.
