Suzuki is recalling the Swift, Baleno, S-Cross and Vitara as the brakes may not work as intended.
“Due to a manufacturing defect, the valve between the engine and the vacuum assist brake booster may swell under certain conditions,” the company says in its recall notice.
“As a result, an increased brake pedal effort may be required to achieve the expected stopping distance.
“Note: The brake system remains functional.
“If the braking system does not operate as intended, it could increase the risk of a crash resulting in serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”
All vehicles are from between 2016 and 2022.
Suzuki Australia and Suzuki Queensland will contact owners when parts become available, and will direct them to make an appointment at a dealership to have the work carried out, free of charge.
Owners with any further questions can contact Suzuki Australia on 1800 777 088 or Suzuki Queensland on (07) 3623 4900.
